If At First ...

The last of the Unfinished Projects - The Book of Kells detail worked in stem stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch and french knots is nearing the finish line! It would have been finished much sooner if I'd checked that the new batch of thread was the correct shade. Forgetting to do that I then had to unpick a large section, which was heart wrenching.
This is probably the last of a set of five that I've completed over the years. I simply love the sepia monochrome of the design and the unbleached natural fibres of the fabric. I found the fabric in a remnants section at a hugely discounted price. I bought a decent sized chunk but now that I'm coming to the last pieces I'm really wishing that I'd bought the whole batch. When I realised that the new thread wasn't quite the same shade I nearly threw the project in the bin but I'm so glad that I persevered and I can really see it coming together. As my Nan used to say, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."
